The Thursday Question
Every Thursday when the House of Commons sits, the “Thursday question” and the answer to it give MPs a chance to think ahead.
The Thursday Question is crafted for busy MPs and Senators who are thinking ahead. It is written by Ian Brodie. He sends this update (mostly) on Thursdays, in time for MPs and Senators to read on their trips home.
Brodie writes from experience. He worked on political campaigns and riding associations for years before he moved to Ottawa in 2003. Working alongside such legends as Doug Finley, Irving Gerstein, and Don Plett, he helped shape the Conservative Party into a strong national organization. He worked to put Stephen Harper into the Prime Ministership and got the Harper government started. He recently chaired the Conservative Party’s the 2022 leadership selection process.
Brodie is also a political science professor at the University of Calgary. His book, "At the Centre of Government," is a popular guide in conservative politics. According to Brodie, if you haven't read it, you really are not prepared for government work. He is a Senior Advisor at New West Public Affairs. And Program Director at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute.
